My Story
Jay Watts has been involved with the sport of girls lacrosse at the high school level for almost two decades, and his players have attended numerous Division I and III colleges. His 324 wins as a varsity head coach through the 2016 season place him in the top 20 all-time nationally in total wins and his high school program has been in the top 10 nationally in winning percentage for over the last 10 years. His teams have won nine state championships. He has been awarded the GACA State Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year five times and was selected to coach in the US Lacrosse/ Champion High School Girls All-American Showcase in 2013. He is also a member of the Georgia Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
At the national level, Jay has served on the Board of Governors for the Women's Game with US Lacrosse and been a long-time member of the US Lacrosse Rules Committee. He was also the Chair of the Girls Lacrosse Rules Committee with the National Federation of High Schools for four years with his term ending in 2015. He has previously served as a selector for the US Lacrosse National Tournament and been involved with the All-American selection committee for over a decade.
Jay has been the Assistant Director of Athletics at an independent high school in Atlanta, GA, since 2000 and has received his Certified Master Athletic Administrator designation from the NIAAA.
Jay's success placing female Lacrosse athletes in schools like Northwestern University, George Washington University, Kenyon College, Furman University, Yale University, Cornell University, Columbia University and Washington and Lee University make him the ideal match for the SPORTMATCH team.
