My Story

In an effort to help solve the recruiting process riddle and bridge the gap between prospects and college coaches, Lane started SPORTMATCH in 2013. As the son of former head Wake Forest and South Carolina coach Dave Odom, he grew to love basketball at a young age. During his career, he served as a Division I Assistant Basketball Coach at Alabama, ECU, UNCC and Missouri. He has coached in 10 NCAA Tournaments including a Sweet 16 run with Alabama and an Elite 8 appearance with Missouri. Lane coached players such as Latrell Sprewell, Robert Horry, Linas Kleiza, Antonio McDyess, and Kareem Rush while in the college ranks. Lane considers this entrepreneurial venture as one that can not only enhance the experience of the student athlete but also the athletic community.

INTERESTING FACT:
Lane coached in 10 NCAA D1 Tournaments including a final 8.

Why did you create SPORTMATCH?

I saw a need for a more thoughtful, personal and streamlined approach when attacking the increasingly difficult recruiting landscape.

We work with student athletes on a more personal level, identifying their character and working that into the college selection process. As a result, we see college as a 40 year decision – not a four year decision, something that will shape your adult life. Significant coaching and recruiting experience combined with our commitment to enhancing the sport community provides a proven and dependable option for families.
